Black Cat Arts was started in 2020 by Haley Puskas in Bridgeport, Ohio. Her art style is Mixed Media. She loves to work with clay, resin & wire. She incorporates crystals, flowers, moss, glitter, charms & other oddities into her pieces. She especially loves making unique & sometimes quirky wearable art. “The passion & drive that I embody, helped to make this all happen! I pour my heart & soul into every piece that I make. This is only the beginning for me!”
Our Mission
Black Cat Arts wants to encourage positivity & creativity. Each product that is handmade, is made with good intentions & energy. Just like the black cat, we want to bring a little bit of magic, mystery & curiosity to your life! We strive make & sell products that will bring joy as well as a sense of wonder.
The Inspiration
When my grandmother passed away in July of 2020, I found a light in that darkness. I was inspired by the want to preserve my grandmother’s funeral flowers & found epoxy resin. My grandmother & I would always talk about how I needed an outlet for my creativity, but where I’m from, in a small town in Ohio, it’s hard to come by creative things to do. I think if she were alive today, she would be so proud of me & my small business.
The name “Black Cat Arts” was also inspired by my black cat, Obsidian. Obsidian is named after black obsidian stone which is very powerful & protects against negativity. Our baby, Obsidian, inspires me everyday & I want to shed light on black cats who have a bad rep & are turned away often times for being “evil” or “unlucky” when they are so loving & unique. Every black cat I have met has had the best personality. Black cats are definitely different, but they are also sentient beings that possess a little bit of magic!
About the Artist
Hi! My name is Haley, I’m from a small town in Ohio. I am a lover of cats, photography, art, crystals & all things spooky! I’ve always considered myself to be a little “weird” & different. I’ve always had creativity flowing through me, but could never draw, paint, or basically put anything on a piece of paper that I was content with. I found my fire & purpose through resin art, candle making, crystal healing & tarot. I started making resin art & candles, in 2020. I picked up pretty quick & had time to do so because of the quarantine. I plan to keep pushing myself to make even better & even more unique things as time goes on. As for tarot, I’ve been reading them for years now. From a young age, I was interested in tarot, witchcraft & the occult. I never took the dive in until a dear friend gifted me my first tarot deck (it was all over from there). Obsessed with memorizing every card’s symbol & meaning, I’ve been able to predict many things for many people. This tool has helped me find my purpose in life in ways that I couldn’t do myself. I’ve found my true calling & spiritual path through the beautiful tool, tarot. With “Black Cat Arts”, I want to make things that will make people happy, to help others find their purpose in life, & to spark creativity in like-minded individuals that I cross paths with.
